Who are the AWF?

The AWF (formely the Atlantic Whale Foundation) is a volunteer run and volunteer funded project. We, the volunteers, are the AWF. Over the years many people have come to volunteer, and many of them have either remained on the project, or have kept in touch and continue to support the AWF projects, through raising awareness, fundraising or simply spreading the word about the work the AWF is doing. The AWF has been running for over 15 years now, so as you can imagine we have a very loyal, proactive, enthusiatic and diverse community driven to benefit our planet, and make the changes we wish to see in the world.
We are all driven by our passion to make the world a better place. Cheesy as this may sound, its true, and we are not ashamed of it!
We have done so much over the last 15 years, breaking a few world records, sailing 44km accross the Atlantic Ocean in a kayak made out of plastic bottles, re-developing a village in Sierra Leone, funding for the childrens education in the village of York. We would never be able to list everything we do, as everyday the AWF volunteers are doing remarkable things. We spread awareness in Tenerife on the whale watching boats on the issues of whaling,we are involved with designing and re-building schools in Sierra Leone, we raise awarness through social networking, fundraising, making films to create a greater empathy for our environment. The success of the AWF comes from having the right working attitude, and having the determination to see it through.
A life in conservation has its perks, with the opportunity to travel around the world, jump into many lines of work, developing a career that you WANT to do rather than what you HAVE to do. From a life working in conservation you should expect to become vastly independent and adaptable to most situations that you are thrown into, you will have experiences that WILL last a lifetime, and you will also be adding some very respectable credentials on your CV.
So what are you waiting for? Come and volunteer!
You have what it takes to become a full-time AWF volunteer like us.
Looking forward to meeting you,
